Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

  • Site usage: anonymous interaction events (e.g. searches performed, terms cited) via Firebase Analytics, to understand how the dictionary is used. We do not log the text of your searches in these events.
  • “Ask AI” links: when you click “Ask AI” and choose a chatbot, your browser opens that chatbot’s website directly in a new tab with a prefilled prompt (the term name, a short snippet, and the page URL). This request goes straight from your browser to the third-party AI provider — it does not pass through our servers, and we do not see or store what you ask them.
  • Feedback and reports: if you use the feedback button to report a problem with a term or send a suggestion, we collect what you type (your message, or the term and issue details), your email if you choose to provide one, the page URL, your browser’s user agent, and your IP address (used only for spam prevention, via rate limiting and Cloudflare Turnstile).

2. How we use your information

We use this information to understand overall site usage and improve it. We do not sell your personal information.

3. Third-party services

  • AI chatbot providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Perplexity, xAI, Google, Microsoft, DeepSeek, Mistral) — only if you click “Ask AI” and choose one; each processes the prompt sent to it under its own privacy policy, which we don’t control.
  • Firebase Analytics (Google) — measures aggregate, anonymous site usage.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — verifies that feedback form submissions aren’t coming from bots; processes your IP address and browser signals for this purpose.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data it processes on our behalf.

4. Cookies

We use essential local storage (e.g. to remember your theme preference and your cookie choice), which doesn’t require consent. Firebase Analytics cookies are only set if you click “Accept” on the cookie banner; if you decline or dismiss the banner, these cookies are never set. We do not use advertising tracking cookies.

5. Your rights

You can request deletion of your data — including feedback you’ve submitted — by contacting us at the address below.

6. Children’s privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the last-updated date is shown above.
