Alternate technology
Origin: Lat.alternus, Gr. τεχνολογία
One of several technologies that exist or can be developed within the time frame required to meet one or more targets for a technology roadmap. In some cases, two technologies are pure alternatives in that the target can be reached using either technology X or Y.
