Fibonacci numbers

In mathematics, the Fibonacci numbers, named after the 12th century Italian mathematician, Leonardo of Pisa, form a sequence defined as follows. Begin with the first two numbers 0 and 1. Then add the preceding two numbers to obtain the third. In other words, each number in the series is the sum of the two numbers before it. This results in the series 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987, 1597, 2584, 4181, 6765, 10946, … The sequence has found use in art, architecture, music, and numerology. These numbers have the unique property that dividing one by its predecessor yields a constant number, no matter where in the sequence. This number is known as the “golden ratio” and is approximately 1.618. Remarkably, this same number is produced no matter what numbers are used to start the sequence.
