Prisoner’s dilemma
Origin: Lat. prehensĭo, -ōnis, dilemma, Gr. δίλημμα
A situation in which two or more people or organizations have to put their faith in mutual loyalty and trust in their opposition to have a mutual win, and face losing if self-interest of their opponent wins out.
