Rational choice theory
Origin: Lat. rationālis electĭo, -ōnis, Gr. θεωρία
A decision based on logic that leads a decision-maker closer to his or her objectives. The decision may, for example, be based on least cost, or shortest time, or highest probability of a favorable outcome or any combination of such criteria.
