Role playing

Acting out a future scenario. In role-playing, participants adopt the roles of characters, or parts within the scenario; they “live” in their assigned world. They adopt personalities consistent with their scenario. Role-playing is like being in an improvisational drama or free-form theater, in which the participants are the actors who are playing parts. The role play can be supported by observers who may allow a great deal of freedom or place fairly tight constraints. Simulations and role-playing exercises are one of the oldest educational methods.
