Self-fulfilling prophecy
Origin: Gr. αὐτο-, Lat. complēreprophetīa, .gr. προφητεία
A prediction that directly or indirectly causes itself to become true. Also called the Pygmalion effect, it is an expectation that comes true partly because it is considered socially trustworthy and partly because of subconscious activity and selective perception.
