Statistical modeling
Origin: Ger. statistik, It. modello, Lat. modǔlus
Assumes that the information contained in historical data can be extracted, analyzed and reduced to one or more equations that can be used to replicate historical patterns. The techniques use the mathematics of statistics to deepen the understanding of causality in complex systems. Statistical modeling is usually a cross-sectional view of the relationship among variables at a single point in time. The number of cases included in a sample provide the variation to construct the parameter estimates.
