Strategic foresight
Origin: Lat. strategĭcus, gr. στρατηγικός, lat. prospicere
The planning that results when future thinking is applied to existing, real-world situations. A term that is sometimes synonymous with foresight, but is a reminder that foresight implies action, often direction setting, and is more valuable at the level of strategy (ensuring moving in the right direction) than at the level of tactics (specific decisions about how to proceed).
