Strategic studies

The branch of international political studies which examines the ways in which states achieve their political objectives through the threat or use of military force. The traditional field of war studies has in the modern context been broadened to security studies, which includes peace negotiation and enforcement, diplomatic and economic measures, and terrorism or other non-state players in the international field.
