Consciousness
Origin: Lat. conscientĭa, Gr. συνείδησις
The mental state when one is aware that one is aware; it is the awareness of awareness. The ability to be aware of one's actions or experiences. Most biologists would hold that at least many mammalian species, including the non-human primates, exhibit consciousness.
