Teilhard de Chardin
A Jesuit priest who was also a paleontologist and philosopher. Because his ideas of the unfolding material cosmos (as opposed to the literal interpretation of Genesis) his work was denied publication by the Roman Catholic Church because of its failure to accept the doctrine of original sin. His philosophical work included two concepts that are often referred to in futures studies: the Omega Point (the supreme point to which the world is evolving in complexity and consciousness) and the Noosphere (the whole sphere of human thought as the biosphere is the totality of biology)
