Corporate technology roadmap

A technology roadmap developed internally by a single company/university/laboratory as part of its technology planning. This may be done within the context of a broader industry roadmap, or it may be done independently of any external planning.Sandia National Laboratories of the U.S. Department of Energy has been a major developer and practitioner of technology roadmapping. They describe three different types of technology roadmaps: 1) A product technology roadmap that shows the steps from the present to a desired product; 2) An emerging technology roadmap that shows how a particular technology is evolving and how application of resources might be applied to expedite or change in other ways the course of the emerging technology; and 3) An issue-oriented roadmap in which technology is displayed in the network as one or multiple steps involved in the solution or the emergence of an issue.
