Decision theory
Origin: Lat. decisĭo, -ōnis, Gr. θεωρία
An interdisciplinary field of study concerned with principles and means for making rational decisions, how real decision-makers make decisions, and how rational decisions can be reached under conditions of uncertainty. It encompasses techniques that include maximizing utility, minimizing regret, Bayesian concepts in which base data are modified by new perceptions, and game theory, in which competing agents interact with one another in the process of accomplishing their goals.
Spanish: Teoría de la decisión.
