Futures window

( Piloted at the VTT Technical Research Center of Finland, this model aims to use the power of images or visual weak signals to trigger employees’ futures thinking. Originally the idea included installing monitors with images of weak signals in the premises of an organization, this could include video clips, photos or animations of either inventions or weird things happening today. Those monitors could be installed on any place where the employees would lay still for a while, be it an elevator or the toilet. Every company would assign a futures reporter, whose main job was to collect and produce the material for the monitors, tracking possible weak signals. Two pilots were implemented in 206 and 2007 and the opinions of the employees were gathered afterwards, these showed that the employees considered the Futures Window to be a valuable tool for thinking about the future and innovation in general.
