Futures
Origin: Lat. futūrus
Routinely referred to in the plural to emphasize the multiplicity of possible futures. A term referring to the time yet to come. Generic name for the futures field. Stresses the plurality of future options and possibilities. It is plural because one of the fundamental beliefs of futurists is that the future is not predetermined, or pre‐ordained, rather it is created by decisions and chance. Therefore, there is no single, certain future, but only alternative futures. Alternately: the entire field of futures research or futures studies.
Spanish: Futuros
