Hudson Institute
Origin: Lat. institūtum
Prestigious 'think tank' founded by RAND researcher Herman Kahn and colleagues to pursue a range of futures-oriented studies. Kahn's books, such as On Thermonuclear War (1967) and The Year 2000 (1967), gained wide attention. , and Kahn and the Institute were in great demand. Its initial work focused on military research; when that funding decreased, Hudson focused on domestic, social, and economic issues, particularly the future of the workforce and welfare.
