Indicator, variable, factor, metric
Origin: Lat. indicāre
A phenomenon that can be tracked periodically to spot change. Measurement, quantitative or qualitative, standardized or recognized, as a variable. Peter Lazarsfeld defines as indicators everything that is observable and visible and that indicates a deeper dimension that can contribute to decision making.
