Negative feedback
Origin: Lat. negatīva retro-alimentum
Sampling the output of a system or subsystem and feeding back a portion with reversed polarity to the input. Such an arrangement leads to improved stability since when output grows, the negative feedback tends to decrease system gain. In more general terms, negative feedback in a causal loop tends to stabilize that loop.
