Network analysis
Origin: Lat. rete gr. ἀνάλυσις
Refers to networks of any sort including social networks, logical (cause and effect), and particularly information, biological regulatory systems, and electrical and communications networks. Analysis of such networks almost always involves constructing a map that displays the connections among nodes of the networks; the analysis of the network can be used to improve the network (optimize it) through reduction of time or cost, to discover paths for diffusion of information, in epidemiology to identify the paths of disease vectors, and in risk assessment and in fraud detection, to mention just a few applications.
