Trend analysis
Origin: Lat. tendĕre, del gr. ἀνάλυσις
The use of time-series and other data to identify and 'track' changes in important variables. Can provide insights into possible future states, but since it utilizes only historical data, it is extrapolation and therefore misses the effects of any unprecedented changes.
