Visionary future

Visionary Future or Visionary Scenario. Identifies a “surprisingly successful” future where the broader vision of the organization or community is achieved. The scenario story plays out what needs to happen for this visionary outcome to happen – the pathways this future must take. A vision is the preferred future, shaped by values, that a group is committed to creating. Visions tend to include what the organization wants for the larger community. A visionary scenario includes the organization, its operating environment, and the macro environment. A set of scenarios would include an Expectable, a Challenging, and a Visionary scenario. Ideally a set of scenarios includes four, if so then two of the scenarios are Visionary, and explore different visionary outcomes and consider alternative pathways.
