Vision

Image shared and described in precise terms of a wished future. A vision provides a “north star” for an organization, it links the values of the organization to the future they want to create, it makes workers more productive; vision work may confirm and renew commitment to a current vision or create an enhanced vision. A compelling, inspiring statStatement of a preferred future that the person or organization is committed to creating. It does not specify any plan or method for achieving the vision; rather, it serves to inspire and align people and organizations around a noble goal. Eleonora Barbieri-Masini considers that the vision constitutes the third approach to the future, along with the extrapolation and the utopia. The vision is also a stage within the creation of a project if it comes from the will (to see the vision realized) and from the capacity to construct the future (to formulate the vision). The future it is built on the base of the past and the present data, from the facts described by Bertrand de Jouvenel, but adding the utopia, desirable or feared, and its joint maintained with the real world. The project is based on the vision, that is not the project by itself. To become a future project, it is necessary a conscious will of the fact that it must become. The values play an important role in this approach, although they are not there unconditionally, as in utopia, but critically, like in the real world. Is a compelling statement of the preferred future that a visionary on or community wants to rebate. Visions move and inspire trends to be used in description of some future conditions rather than of a desired future. It is the exceptional strategic perception and foresight, a characteristic of effective leadership. The visionary leader’s concepts may appear idealistic or unrealistic, but vision is based on a higher order of perception concerned with fundamental insights, the big picture, and projection of current concerns into the future. A picture or perspective o how you think sometime in the future. It is useful for developing a possible target(s) and explaining it to others. Image is more useful for futures studies, as it suggests there are several “images” where vision to some suggests only one.
