Futures design

Hybridization between design and Futures that offers ecosystemic and materialized approaches for shaping collective perspectives, informed by a diverse range of practices. Involves the construction of divergent futures, combining three aspects or antecedents: Strategic foresight. It involves an analysis of current signals that would allow the identification of different forces and trends that could influence the future of an industry or sector. Strategic design. It involves applying design principles to increase the competitive, innovative and problem-solving capabilities of an organization to the systemic challenges that may arise. Artifacts and prototypes. Based on speculative design and design fiction, it allows generating and communicating future stories in a sensitive way and through experience. Futures design can draw on various techniques: design fiction, narratives, science fiction and speculative design for visualization and (to some extent) materialization of the desired future, as well as a tangible way of explaining gaps and possible changes from today.
