Interpolation

Interpolation is a mathematical method applied in numerical analysis that consists in the construction of new data points taking as a basis, a discrete set of known data points. Interpolation represents a very particular case of curve fitting where the function must go exactly through the data points. In mathematical terms, it can be expressed as follows: In a sequence of n distinct numbers x called nodes and for each x a second number y, we are looking for a function f so that A pair x, y is called a data point and f is called the interpolant for the data points.
