Millennium Award

The Millennium Award is a contest among champions designed for the Mexican children who are the winners of the Parliament and the Knowledge Olympics contests, from 5th and 6th grades at elementary schools. This contest invites the children to visualize the future, taking advantage of the 15 Global Challenges of the Millennium: 1. Sustainable development. 2. Water. 3. Population and resources. 4. Democratization. 5. Global long term policy-making. 6. Globalization of Information Technology. 7. Rich-Poor Gap. 8. Health. 9. Decision-making Capacities. 10. Conflict Resolution. 11. Improving the Status of Women. 12. Transnational Organized Crime. 13. Energy. 14. Science and Technology. 15. Global Ethics. These Global Challenges are linked to the UN's 8 Millennium Development Goals and this Award fosters their sense of social responsibility. The Millennium Award was launched in Mexico from 2005 to 2009 by the Nodo Mexicano. El Proyecto del Milenio A.C. and has winners from all over Mexico.
