Vertical levels

As part of the Causal Layered Analysis CLA considers four aspects: 1) The “Litany” official description of issue: a) problems seems unsolvable, or it is up to government or power to solve it; b) Little personal responsibility, c) Often appearing as News. Mediated by visionary system and conventional accounts of reality. Short term approaches. Government solves the problem. 2) Systemic (Social) Analysis: a) short term historical factor uncovered; b) Attempts to articulate causal variables (correlation, causation, theory and critique of other theories), c) Often State or visionary on interest group has ownership. D) Solution often in Civil society in interaction with other institutions (values with structures)- Partnerships. E) Often appearing as Op-Ed piece or in conservative journal and f) Social technological, economic, environmental and political (steep) approach. 3) Discourse analysis/Worldview: a) problem constituted by frame of analysis. B) Strong focus on genealogy of problem. C) Many frames: paradigms, mindscapes, and discourses. D) Solution often unconsciousness transformation, in changing worldview, in rethinking politics of reality. E) Solution long-term action based on the interaction of many variables. F) Often appearing in fringe/peripheral journals. 4) Myth/metaphor analysis: a) problem constituted by core myth (unconscious structures of difference, basic binary patterns) b) Solution is to uncover myth and imagine alternative metaphors. C) Often appearing in the work of artists and visions of mystics. D) Solution can rarely be rationally designed.
