Anomaly

Discrepancy from a rule or a use. A value, phenomenon, event, etc. which does not fit into some expected pattern. Futurists look for anomalies as potential indicators of new kinds of emerging conditions. Futurists sometimes call these “wild cards” or “black swans.” In an anomalous time series the times are not uniformly spaced.
