Evolution
Origin: Lat. evolutĭo, -ōnis
Set of transformations that seem to be oriented in the same direction. The word evolution covers two types of temporal transformations: the “discontinuous” such as the mutations or phase change, are perceived more unpredictable in its results that the “continuous” for development of aging. The “bifurcation theory” (that interprets a “visible continuity” by an “eventual invisible discontinuity” which evolution is rarely foreseeable) permits maybe to join both conceptions. In biology, the continuous genetic adaptation of species to environmental change by the agencies of natural selection, hybridization, inbreeding and mutation. The theory of evolution by natural selection was first popularized by British naturalist Charles Darwin in The Origin of Species (1859) and has since been supported by scientific research such as breeding experiments. Science of evolution The word evolution has been used to refer both to a fact and a theory. When evolution is used to describe a theory, it refers to an explanation for why and how the process of evolution (in the sense, for example, of "speciation") occurs. Evolution consists of two basic types of processes: those that introduce new genetic variation into a population, and those that affect the frequencies of existing variation. "Variation proposes and selection disposes." The mechanisms of evolution include mutation, linkage, heterozygosity, recombination, gene flow, population structure, drift, natural selection, and adaptation.
